Can Dimitar Berbatov & Wes Brown Lead Kerala Blasters To Victory

In a recent interview, Rene Meulensteen, who will be coaching Kerala Blasters this season stated that the presence of the ex Manchester United player, Dimitar Berbatov will help Kerala Blasters and other Indian players a lot. He said, "Watching Berba (Berbatov), he has got this languid style. What he does with the ball, he hardly does anything wrong. He is calm, composed, and efficient. The more they (Blasters) play together, the more they will understand and gel along. All are in the same boat. Great for Indian football and players, they can learn a lot from Berba,"

The Dutchman also praised the former Manchester United player, Wes Brown. Even though, Brown has missed the two opening games of the season, Rene firmly believes that he is crucial to the side. He added, "It's great. Having them in the heydays was great. Both (Brown and Berbatov) were involved in winning Premier Leagues, Champions League and other major trophies. Their passion for football has seen them delay their retirement,"

Rene Meulensteen added, "Both Wes and Berba's presence in the team gives the extra level of composure and calmness on the pitch. Unfortunately, Wes hasn't played due to niggles." The goalless draws against the debutants Jamshedpur FC and ATK will hurt Kerala Blasters fans but they are still capable of turning things.

He added, "Our playing philosophy was based on four main pointers. Firstly, attack with pace, then penetrate. Then again attack with power and bring a level of unpredictability to your game." In addition to that, Rene also talked about Blaster’s fans and said that it is crucial for the fans to cheer for their team and act as the 12th player. He believes this will provide a significant boost to the playing eleven.

He concluded by stating that, "Our first aim is to make the playoffs. Fans are massively important. The key for the fans is to help the team score the first goal. We haven't scored a goal yet, but the fans can help us do so.
